Xavi Artigas Clinches WorldSPB Championship at Season Finale in Jerez
Kawasaki concluded the 2026 FIM Superbike World Championship season at Circuito de Jerez in Spain with a World Championship title, race victories and strong performances across all three classes. Xavi Artigas secured the inaugural FIM Sportbike World Championship title following a Race 1 victory and eighth-place finish in Race 2, completing a championship sweep for Kawasaki in the debut season of WorldSPB. In WorldSSP, Jeremy Alcoba claimed his fourth victory of the season alongside teammate Dominique Aegerter in second, securing Kawasaki's first 1-2 finish in the class since 2016. Meanwhile, bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team riders Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani concluded the WorldSBK season fifth and seventh in the championship standings, respectively, while Kawasaki WorldSBK Team rider Garrett Gerloff finished 10th overall and earned the season's Best Finisher award.

“From the first moment, I had trust in myself and the team that if we had the possibility to win, then everything was possible. On Saturday we took good points for that, but today the position was safer, and I tried to finish the race as close as possible to [David] Salvador. I was able to do this, and this allowed me more breathing space in the championship. We did it. I am super happy, so I want to say thank you to all the people who believed in me, always, and also to myself, because I believed more than anyone. We worked hard for a number of years, but now this experience has paid off.”

“Another victory feels amazing. I do not know what to say, but I trusted myself a lot, and I trusted my team. The race today was easier than Saturday because some of the fast guys crashed out, but I also felt much better on the bike today. When I saw that nobody had the pace, I tried to stay calm. I started to fight with [Can] Öncü but then I decided to pass everybody and try to lead. Even after the red flag, I saw that I could win with a small gap. It was amazing to be third in the championship. Thanks to everybody.”
Dominique Aegerter
WorldSSP
“I am really happy to be on the podium in the last race of the season. We did a fantastic job. It was not an easy season, and in the middle of the year, I was doubting myself. We had a lot of problems and did not achieve the results I wanted. But to end the last race of the season with Jeremy [Alcoba] first and me second for the Kawasaki WorldSSP Team - and have Jeremy finish third in the championship - I have to say a big congratulations to them and a big thanks for their help. We will celebrate these results with everybody, and let’s enjoy it.”

“We had a little bit of rain at the end of Race 2. I felt more competitive than on Saturday, and I was able to fight until the last few laps. I think the steps we made with the bike were better, so I was quite happy. We are a little bit too far away, but it has been a fantastic year. Fifth in the world; we can be proud of ourselves. A massive thank you to the team; I really appreciate their work and can’t wait to try and get a bit better over the winter.”
Axel Bassani

“In the end, we finished the year in a good way, and we improved a lot with respect to yesterday. Even with a little bit of rain, we went nine or 10 seconds faster than Race 1, which was a really big improvement, also with respect to last year. We fought until the end and tried to finish inside the Top 6 in the championship. We finished P7, which I think is really good. Alex [Lowes] was P5 in the championship, so both bimotas were inside the Top 10. I think we did the maximum we could, and the team did everything that was in our hands to do. I think all of us - the riders, the team, and everyone - did an incredible job. We were fighting with the top guys until the end. Now we need a little bit of rest, and we will keep working for next year. Thank you to everyone, and see you soon.”
Garrett Gerloff
WorldSBK
“We definitely had some ups and a few downs, but all in all I am happy with the whole team and the Kawasaki Ninja® ZX™-10RR. I feel like we got the most out of the bike that we could, and Top 10 in the championship is something that I am decently happy with. For sure, next year I want to make some big improvements and come back fighting stronger and for better positions. We are going to recover over the off-season, train hard, and come back ready for 2027.”
