Ricky Russell Dominates Budds Creek GP as Josh Toth Lands on the Podium

After returning to the winner's circle one month ago, Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green™ rider Josh Toth continued to build momentum in his comeback season with a podium finish at Round 5 of the J Day Off-Road Championship at Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland. Joining Toth atop the overall podium was Kawasaki rider Ricky Russell, who delivered a commanding performance to secure the Pro AA overall victory.

Round 5 of the J Day Off-Road Championship presented riders with one of the series' most demanding venues, combining the full Budds Creek motocross track with a lengthy, freshly cut woods section, technical obstacles, and extreme enduro-inspired features. The unique Grand Prix format challenged riders across a wide range of disciplines, requiring equal parts speed, endurance, and technical precision through two 30-minute motos.

Russell quickly established himself as the rider to beat throughout the day. After moving into the lead early in Moto 1, he steadily pulled away from the field and crossed the finish line with a 12-second lead. In Moto 2, Russell once again found himself at the front and showcased his experience and consistency by extending his lead throughout the race. By the checkered flag, he held a strong 14-second gap of victory to complete a perfect 1-1 sweep and claim the overall win. His dominant performance marked one of the most convincing victories of the J Day Off-Road season so far.

Toth continued to demonstrate the progress he has made since returning from the broken femur that ended his 2025 season. Following his emotional breakthrough victory at the previous J Day round, Toth once again found himself battling among the front-runners aboard his KX™450X. He fought through a competitive Pro AA field to finish fourth in Moto 1 before improving to third in Moto 2, securing third overall for the event. Throughout the day, his combination of off-road experience, technical riding ability, and racecraft allowed him to remain in contention against some of the top riders in the discipline.

With Russell proving victorious and Toth rounding out the podium, Kawasaki riders once again showcased their versatility and capability across one of the East Coast's most diverse and demanding off-road race formats. Toth will pick back up with his teammates at Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green for Round 5 of the American National Enduro Championship in Wellston, Ohio this weekend.
