Mathis Valin Claims Historic First GP Victory in Teutschenthal
Kawasaki riders delivered another standout weekend at MXGP of Germany, highlighted by a milestone victory for Mathis Valin in the MX2 Class. Valin captured the first GP overall win of his young career and the first-ever GP victory for the KX™250SR project with 2-1 moto scores in the challenging conditions at Teutschenthal. In the EMX250 Class, Venum Bud Racing Kawasaki continued its dominance as Francisco Garcia extended his championship lead with another moto victory while Jake Cannon secured his second consecutive overall win to strengthen his hold on second in the standings. In MXGP, Romain Febvre overcame adversity to maintain third in the championship chase, while Pauls Jonass battled back from a second-moto crash to remain within striking distance of the series Top 10. Across all classes of competition, Kawasaki riders added two race wins, multiple podium finishes, and another collection of championship-leading performances to an already impressive season campaign.

"Finally my first GP win! I have been waiting for this moment for several weeks, but after my shoulder injury it took time. After two podiums in a row it's such a good feeling to finally stand on the top step for both myself and the team! Today the track was really rough. On TV, maybe people could not realize just how deep the ruts were; they were similar to Switzerland two months ago. I already had a good feeling in the first race and could chase Sascha [Coenen] all the way for second. In the second moto I started to put the pressure on him, and he crashed. When I took the lead, I knew that I had to ride very technical, and I was able to do just that! I made a few small mistakes, but that was inevitable; it was the first time for a while that I have been leading a race on Sunday, but I stayed calm and now I want to repeat as soon as possible! We worked hard with the team, and of course we will continue to do so as the goal is to be on the podium every week. I’m feeling good with the bike, I’m consistent at the starts, and everyone in the team does a great job."

"Another awesome day with my second overall win in a row. This weather was unexpected, but it is what it is. A good start was essential, and we both got that. I knew Francisco would be going for it after yesterday; you can't rush things in these conditions, so patience was the key, and I was happy to stay out of trouble in second for the overall. I've made a big step since last year and continue to grow. I'm so happy for both myself and the team; we're putting on a clinic at the moment, and my confidence is growing every week. All I need now is a race win to go with the overalls and the podiums. And it was really refreshing to hear the national anthem again."

"The conditions were so difficult today, but I knew what I had to do. We both had such a good start, and I could make a big gap already on the first lap; after that I stayed focused for another moto win. Now I am looking forward to Latvia; I want to take another overall win there."

"When I was battling with [Ruben] Fernandez for third in the first moto [Maxime] Renaux got alongside me, and I made a small mistake and fell. My clutch was broken, so it was difficult to start again, and I lost many positions. I was riding strong in the second moto, but I was in the wrong spot at the wrong time when [Andrea] Adamo made a mistake, so he took my front wheel as I was close to passing him. I had a really good pace alone to come back to him again but there was nowhere to pass, so I finished fourth. I'm still third in the championship, but I'm a little disappointed; I could have made up a lot of points today and I didn't. I am really happy for Mathis [Valin]; he was riding strong and did good with 2-1; he really deserved it. I want to apologize to the FIM for some words I said last weekend because it is now clear that they did not have all of the information about what was happening with [Thibault] Benistant. I should not have criticized them, but it was in the heat of the moment after racing and we never want a rider to be injured like this; hopefully this situation will never happen again."

"Eighth in the first moto was OK, but I was not satisfied with my riding. The riding was much better in the second race, but I crashed at the second corner. The team has been working hard, and I need to turn it into results on the track. The most positive thing to come out of this weekend is that I'm excited to be going to Kegums next week; the last two years in a row I crashed here and missed my home GP."
