Monster Energy® Kawasaki Team Green™ Rider Kade Johnson Secures First Overall Victory at Motocross Ste-Julie
It was a hot, sunny morning in Sainte-Julie for Round 3 of the Triple Crown Series. The track took a lot of rain Saturday night, leaving a muddy track to start the day off for qualifying. As the sun was shining, the track dried up nicely, leaving a lot of ruts and high speed areas.
Kade Johnson used the opening qualifying session to adapt to the muddy track conditions before steadily increasing his pace throughout the morning. As the track dried out, he continued to improve, earning third overall in qualifying for a strong position heading into the motos. In Moto 1, Johnson got off to another strong start and quickly found himself at the front of the pack. Capitalizing on a mistake by the race leader, he took over the lead and controlled the majority of the moto with confident, consistent riding. A couple of small mistakes later in the race dropped him back to second, and after an intense battle, he settled into third. Johnson remained composed under pressure and rode a smart, determined race to secure a solid third-place finish. In Moto 2, Johnson launched out of the gate with an outstanding start, immediately placing himself at the front of the field. After taking control of the lead, he found himself in an intense, race-long battle for the top spot, with the lead changing hands and relentless pressure coming from behind. Staying calm, composed, and focused throughout the moto, Johnson responded every time he was challenged, delivering one of his strongest rides to date. When the checkered flag flew, Johnson crossed the line in first place to claim his first professional moto victory. Combined with his consistent performance throughout the day, the Moto 2 win also secured his first overall victory in the Triple Crown Series, serving both as a significant milestone in his career and a testament to the hard work, determination, and progress shown by both Johnson and the entire Kawasaki SSR team. The breakthrough performance marks an exciting step forward as the season continues.
Vincent Wey battled the changing track conditions throughout qualifying. After finishing fifth in the opening session, he found his rhythm and speed as the track dried out, and put together an impressive qualifying run to finish second. His strong performance secured second overall heading into the motos. In Moto 1, Wey launched off the gate in second and immediately settled into a hard-fought battle at the front of the field. Staying within striking distance of the leaders throughout the moto, he continued to apply pressure and never backed down. After spending much of the race battling for third, Wey found another gear in the closing laps, making a decisive pass for second place and holding strong to the checkered flag. His determination and relentless drive earned him an impressive second-place finish in Moto 1. In Moto 2, Wey got off to a strong start and immediately found himself battling inside the Top 3. Unfortunately, an early crash ended his race before he was able to showcase his full potential. While the result wasn’t what the team was hoping for, Wey’s speed and determination throughout the weekend remain encouraging, finishing 12th overall. He’ll be looking to bounce back stronger at the next round.
