Kawasaki racers Steve Austin and Daniel Keyes conquered one of the toughest events on the VORRA schedule, each earning class victories at the Night Vision 250. Racing 250 miles through rugged Nevada desert terrain entirely under the stars, Austin piloted the Kawasaki Teryx® 4 H2 to the Stock Mod Class win, while Keyes claimed the top spot in the Pro N/A UTV Class with the Kawasaki Teryx KRX® 1000.

Held just outside Fallon, Nevada, the Night Vision 250 challenged competitors with six 40-mile laps of rocky, technical terrain and an eight-hour time limit. Racing almost entirely at night, the event tested endurance, strategy, and machine durability as teams battled rough desert conditions from green flag to checkered flag.

Austin qualified eighth overall and opened the race with strong pace before mechanical issues forced him and his co-driver to adopt a more conservative strategy. Prioritizing a finish, the pair crossed the line 13th overall with a total time of 5:46:25.559, earning the Stock Mod Class victory and valuable championship points.

"We qualified eighth and were running really well for almost a lap when some issues came up," said Austin. "We ran most of the race at a conservative pace to cross the finish line and get podium points. I was surprised we won our class. We looked at the car after the race and have some work to do to be ready for the next race in five weeks."

Austin also survived one of the race's biggest moments when a massive rock blocked the course midway through the event.

"Midway through the race, a huge rock was kicked out into the middle of the course," Austin said. "We had just dodged a previous rock, and this was the kind of rock that could rip a complete front corner off the car. I squared up and went right over the top of it. The impact rattled both myself and my co-driver, but the Teixeira Tech front bumper and skid plate took most of the damage and protected the car. The Teryx shot up in the air, came back down, and we kept going. That Fallon course is rough, rocky, slippery, and fun."

Keyes put together an impressive charge after qualifying 21st overall. Behind the wheel of his Kawasaki Teryx KRX® 1000, he methodically worked his way through the field to finish 10th overall with a winning time of 5:27:53.303 in the Pro N/A UTV Class.

The victory marked another strong performance for Keyes, who continues to lead the Pro N/A UTV championship standings heading into the next round of VORRA competition.

With their class victories, both Kawasaki drivers continue to lead their respective championship standings. Austin maintains the points lead in the Stock Mod Class, while Keyes remains atop the Pro N/A UTV championship as the series heads to Yerington, NV for the Stomping Grounds 300 at the end of August.
