Monster Energy® Kawasaki Team Green™ Rider Kade Johnson Continues Podium Streak at Gopher Dunes
After arriving to Gopher Dunes for Round 4 of the Triple Crown Series on Thursday to scorching 95°F temperatures, the team spent the week preparing in challenging summer conditions as the heat remained a constant factor. By race day on Sunday, the weather had shifted dramatically, with overcast skies and a refreshing breeze providing a much cooler start to the morning. As the day progressed, the cloud cover remained, helping retain valuable moisture in the track while keeping riders out of the direct sun. The improved conditions created an ideal racing surface, setting the stage for another exciting round of the championship.
Facing the challenging Gopher Dunes circuit for the first time, Kade Johnson approached qualifying with patience and confidence, focusing on learning the deep sandy layout and identifying the fastest lines around the track. With each session, Johnson continued to build momentum, improving his pace as his comfort level increased. His consistent progression and determination paid off, securing sixth overall in qualifying and putting him in a strong position heading into Moto 1. The solid performance highlighted Johnson’s adaptability, and set the stage for an exciting day of racing.
In Moto 1, Johnson got off the gate in the middle of the pack before being forced off the track in the second corner, leaving him with plenty of work to do early in the race. Rejoining near the back, Johnson immediately went on the charge, consistently making passes and finding his way through the field lap after lap. His speed, determination, and relentless effort saw him climb into fifth before setting his sights on the leaders. Refusing to back down, Johnson continued his push toward the podium and capitalized on every opportunity, including skillfully avoiding a last-lap crash near the finish line. His persistence paid off as he crossed the line in an impressive third place, turning an early setback into an outstanding comeback ride.
In Moto 2, Johnson launched off the gate inside the Top 10 and wasted no time charging forward through the field. Displaying impressive determination and racecraft, he made several decisive passes during the opening laps while navigating the demanding track conditions. Once inside the Top 3, Johnson settled into a strong, consistent pace, continuing to apply pressure to the riders ahead while maintaining his position through the checkered flag. His third-place finish in Moto 2, combined with a third-place result in Moto 1, earned Johnson an impressive third overall on the day, adding another podium finish to his growing list of strong performances this season.
