Kawasaki Closes MXGP Season with Two Podiums in Australia
Kawasaki closed out the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship season with two podium finishes at the final round in Darwin, Australia. Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre delivered a pair of second-place finishes for second overall (2-2), securing second in the MXGP World Championship standings and his 11th podium of the season. Teammate Pauls Jonass finished fifth overall (5-5) for his third consecutive Top 5 overall and climbed to ninth in the final championship standings. In WMX, DRT Kawasaki’s Courtney Duncan capped her comeback season with third overall (3-4), earning her second podium of the year and finishing fourth in the championship standings.

"I gave my all and battled to the end; it was close in China and again here, but Jeffrey [Herlings] was tough to beat this year. It is never easy to defend the title, so I am proud to take the silver medal for the third time in my career. That's not bad, and don't forget that I am the oldest, almost 35; not many riders have achieved success at my age. I felt comfortable on the track, and I could push all weekend. I got a better start in the first race; I was quickly second and could race with Jeffrey, but I lost his wheel a little with three or four laps to go. My start was again OK in the second moto, but Jeffrey slid in the first turn and came across my front wheel, so I had to work my way through the pack. We were pushing hard to the finish; I was close again, but it was just too far to win. This was my final GP with Kawasaki after a wonderful seven years - a success story we will celebrate tonight - but we still have the Nations in two weeks. That race is always special, and we have a good team with Tom [Vialle] and Mathis [Valin] so it would be nice to deliver a good result there for France and also for the team."

"Fifth again, but I was building my speed throughout the weekend and getting ever closer to the front four. What really pleased me were the starts at the end of the season, and I took four Top 5s in the last five GPs. That's a wrap with the GPs, but we still have the Nations; we have a good team with two young guys who are also motivated, so hopefully we can score a good result."

"A better start helped, but they put a lot of water down again, so I had to be cautious in the early laps. Then I could up my pace, caught Lala [Turner], and was challenging for a win until I went down in a turn. That was a bit of a bummer as I lost my rhythm, but the speed was there, and there were a lot of positives this weekend. I'm proud of what we achieved this season; it was always going to be difficult after a whole year out of competition and no training; it was tough, but we improved at each round, and we know what we have to work on for next year."
