Racing a GFI Nevada Racing Team backed Kawasaki Teryx KRX® 1000 appropriately No.316 with Shane Kisman as co-driver, Austin raced to a respectable seventh in the Sportsman UTV class after completing the race in four hours, 48 minutes, and 54 seconds.
In only his first off-road race appearance, Austin successfully overcame early adversity just eight miles into the race to earn an impressive come-from-behind seventh-place result.
“Steve Austin
That was the time of my life! Racing the VORRA series was a great experience. I met some incredible people behind the scenes and got to race against a group of solid competitors. The first part of the race was a little squirrely but I proceeded with caution after my early mishap and simply focused on finishing the race. Make no mistake about it. The racers competing in this are some serious athletes. Just the timing and precision that some of these guys are driving with are insane. Then there's the physical and mental part, there’s a couple of times where I just got out of it mentally and I got off course and I got a little cattywampus. If you take your focus off, if you let your guard down for one split second, you can get in real big trouble, and I got in trouble a couple of times. I got another load of respect for these guys who drive these vehicles and everybody who maintains it.
