Kawasaki Riders Continue Strong Championship Charge at MotorLand Aragón
Kawasaki riders delivered another successful weekend across multiple classes at MotorLand Aragón, collecting race wins, podium finishes, and valuable championship points as the 2026 season reached its midpoint. In the new WorldSPB Class, David Salvador and Xavi Artigas each claimed race victories to maintain Kawasaki's hold on the Top 3 positions in the championship standings, and further extend their lead in the manufacturers' battle. In the WorldSBK Class, Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani continued their consistent run of form with Top 5 finishes aboard the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team machines, while Garrett Gerloff charged forward in the final race of the weekend to secure an impressive sixth-place finish. Meanwhile in the WorldSSP Class, both Jeremy Alcoba and Dominique Aegerter produced consistent rides, battling the field to nearly finish inside the Top 10 and Top 20 in both races, respectively. Across the WorldSBK paddock, Kawasaki riders once again demonstrated speed, resilience, and top-contender consistency as the series now turns its attention to Round 7 in Italy.

“I really enjoyed riding the bike today. On Friday, Axel was quite a bit faster than me, and he has been riding great all weekend. So I had to really focus on where I could improve. We have kept the bike quite consistent since Saturday morning, and I felt like I did a good job on Saturday and Sunday. I could never improve enough to challenge the podium riders, including my brother Sam [Lowes], as they were quite a lot faster. So fourth position was, realistically, the maximum we could do, and we managed to achieve it on Race 1 and Race 2. I am really happy with that. Of course I want to improve, and I would have liked to have got a bit closer to Sam, if not the guys in the front. I am sure I can ride a bit better. In the last corner, I am really bad compared to Axel, but the bike is the same. So there are certain parts of the track where I can improve. We need to keep improving our project, which I think we are doing. This year has been tough, but our attitude has been good inside the team.”

“If I had to choose my best race today, then I am happier with the Superpole Race because, usually, I am not really good in that situation. But we made a really strong Superpole Race today, and I had a nice battle in the first laps with Alex. I enjoyed the ‘sprint’ race a lot, and the pace was strong. In the final long race, the bike started to work in a good way, but I had to take some laps to overtake Alberto Surra. Once I did that, I tried to impose my pace without pushing too much, so that I did not make any mistakes. We finished in eighth, sixth, and fifth positions at Motorland, so we finished the weekend in a positive way. I have to be happy with that, and also I am happy with the work the team did, because this weekend has been very difficult. It was really hot, especially for all the guys working inside the pitbox, so I really appreciate that.”

“Not a bad day on Sunday at Motorland, but I am just frustrated with the Superpole Race. In Race 2, I felt I had a better start and was able to push and be closer to the BbKRT riders, Axel and Alex. But I was still hoping for more this weekend. In the Superpole Race, I had good pace, and again in Race 2, but I also had that good start in the second race. Thanks to Kawasaki and the whole team for their hard work, and we will try again at Misano.”
Jeremy Alcoba

“I am really happy with how we ended Sunday. I didn’t necessarily expect it because normally on the second race day of the weekend everyone makes another step. From this morning we tried a different step, and I did not feel so good on it in the race, but I put all my effort into it. All my family and friends are here, so maybe it makes me push more than 100%? I am really happy because we started from 22nd place on the grid and we finished inside the Top 10. Our pace was good, but we were struggling a little bit with grip on the rear. I was pushing in all the braking points, and that’s the way I could stay with the other riders. We made a real comeback today. I was not expecting anything from this weekend, but the team did a really good job, and we took important points for the championship.”
Dominique Aegerter
WorldSSP
“We didn’t take any points in Race 2, and it was quite difficult to fight like this, but I tried my best to adapt to the bike, and I pushed every lap. I was on the limit and had a few slides, and sometimes went over the limit. I could not ride any faster, so it was disappointing. I am fully motivated and I don’t give up. I am trying my best, so I hope all you guys keep supporting and trusting ‘Team 77’. See you soon in Misano.”
