MONSTER ENERGY®/PRO CIRCUIT/KAWASAKI RIDER JO SHIMODA BRINGS HOME TWO PODIUMS AT ROUND 9 OF THE AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
Monster Energy®/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Jo Shimoda landed on the podium twice with two third place finishes for a fourth overall on the day and moving him up to third in the overall points standings. Teammates Ryder DiFrancesco, Austin Forkner, Carson Mumford and Seth Hammaker finished eighth (9-12), 11th (22-5), 12th (15-13) and 14th (24-8), respectively. Monster Energy® Kawasaki riders Adam Cianciarulo and Jason Anderson battled through the deep ruts of Unadilla MX finishing fourth (4-6) and eighth (14-4) overall, respectively, and moving Cianciarulo up to third place overall in the SMX World Championship points standings.

“Overall it was a good day. I had decent speed towards the end of the motos and my starts were good. “I had an up and down day at Unadilla. It felt good to put my KX™250 on top in qualifying for the first time in about five years. In the first moto I ended up going down and having to stop in the mechanic’s area, but came back to 22nd. The second moto is where I should be at right now - good start, good ride, good finish. Time to carry that momentum into Budds Creek.”

“I learned a lot this weekend. Getting good starts and running up front was my goal. I still have a lot of progress to make but we’re getting better each round.”

“Unadilla was great until it wasn’t. I felt great in both qualifying sessions ending up second. I had a great start in Moto 1 and battling for the lead was fun. I went down pretty hard but got back up to 24th. Moto 2 I went out and tried my best and maintained fifth until a tip over and ended up eighth. A lot of positives but I wish the day would have ended better considering how good I felt on my KX™250. Time to get ready for Budds Creek next week.”

“Another weekend in the books. I felt good and we are still improving. I’m leaving this round with decent points, so let’s do it again next weekend.”

“I had good starts but lost the front end in Moto 1 and did some work to make it back to the Top 15. Moto 2 was a lot better, we’re going to keep working at it and be ready for Budds next weekend.”
